Although the show's run was brief, Stiller proved he could handle the duties of writing, directing and acting. As a result, he pulled together his first feature, the Generation X comedy Reality Bites (1994). Stiller's mainstream popularity was secured when he played lovable loser Ted in There's Something About Mary (1998).
